The tournament is a cool new way to do a daily cash grind with quests that are actually pretty fun.
Not sucking is not too hard to pull off. Pretty simple actually.
The basic rules:
1) Every level of +D is +30% damage reduction. 3 stacks. Don't pick a fight without having 3 stacks up first.
2) charge and shield break take off a level of +D. These will be called -D attacks.
3) The attack button is off the GCD, but it has its own GCD

The advanced rules:
1) You cannot do -D damage from melee range. If you don't want to take -D, stay in melee. You can't deal -D from here either.
2) AI riders tend to get antsy and run out to try to do -D to you. When they get out of melee range and into charge range, hit them with a charge + sword attack before you run through them out of range.
3) When you finish running them through with charge, turn your horse and spam the throw button to try to get an extra -D. Chances are the other rider will get one off too, so give yourself a +D right after it hits.
4) Resume melee, wait until the rider tries to get out of range for -D again to repeat the process.
